At school I had a wonderful friend called Sally, with whom we used to play all kinds of bizarre games with sticks in the playground.
Later on, when we grew up a little bit and went to Sixth Form College, the entire student population got a job at the local Waitrose.
Back then the uniforms were a delightful brown and white striped sack, like convicts of the John Lewis partnership. Despite constantly fearing my teenage crush may walk past the shopping centre window and spy me dressed as a street urchin, we all had a laugh, as far as operating a till and shuffling packets of cornflakes can be and Sally was my fellow fiend on the checkouts. We used to exchange oddball poems and notes of comedic genius on the now defunct EFT slips that printed out the receipts and sneak them to each other for entertainment concealed in a cash money bag.
University (or lack-of in my case), grown-up jobs, distance and life all got in the way and it's been far, far too long since I had some proper fun with Sal but meanwhile the clever-clogs has launched this yummy new site, creating bespoke and beautiful lamps.
I hunted high and low for a decent bedside lamp for Mini B's nursery and all I could find were bloody ugly plastic pigs or dodgy Fireman Sam lampshades, which ironically looked highly flammable.
These, however, are unique and splendid. Mini B's may well end up sneaking its way into our room..
